What else do you do?
I do brand ambassador gigs here and there, and any freelance personality type gig as well. *** I request a 20% fee from profits you make by selling my image, on top of my hourly rates, this should be included in the release before I sign it. If the work we do together is strictly for portfolio use and your site to simply showcase your work, this is not needed for the release.
On-location or studio ?
I prefer locations over studios, but happy to work in both.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO modelling?
I originally helped out a friend with a photography project for school. Posted the photos online, was invited into a local group for models and photographers. From there, I contacted photographers and was contacted by them as well. Before I knew it, I had made a name for myself and was able to be build up my portfolio.
DO YOU HAVE ADVICE FOR THOSE WANTING TO PURSUE freelance modelling AS A CAREER?
I say -- DO IT. The best advice I have is to simply market yourself as what what you want to be. Your audience will only see what you put out… so put out what you want them to see! And if you aren’t getting work, build up your portfolio with artists whose work you like. Get comfortable in front of the camera. I cannot stress this enough, learn your angles !
you need to be good at what you do. Logistics, planning, creating shot lists, deadlines, deposits, checking references etc.
All good things take time; don't be discouraged if your growth happens more slowly than those around you. Stay true to yourself by working with genuine integrity and passion. Practice, practice, PRACTICE! Hope this helps
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT modelling?
Hike, camp, meditate, read a good book, road trip with my boyfriend and traveling partner, Facetime my family in Toronto, movie nights, write in my 4 different journals, read up on astrology and numerology, try a new meat-free recipe, and listen to music while I frivolously clean my dishes.
So you're a vegan?
Nope! I gave up meat and animal milk almost 5 years ago, and I started eating seafood again about 2 years ago. This makes me a pescatarian..but i'm really not too strict. I eat desserts made with cream etc.
